Asato was glad that the day had dawned clear and not too cold and there didn't seem to be a storm coming. All in all, a good day to spend outside.

The Ribika gathered up his tools for the day, taking care not to tangle the netting, and stowed it all in a shoulder bag before going to meet with Neville. The greenhouse wasn't a far walk and, remembering his manners, he knocked before opening the door.

So, fishing trip for Neville and Asato.

Asato steps up behind Neville again and will, if he can, take hold of the wizard's shoulders. "Easy. It feels heavier than it is and if you move too fast, the fish may slip out."

I'm using tracking a lot too. Try that?

Neville appears quite comfortable with the touch. "Okay, slower then," he murmurs, biting his bottom lip as he gently tugs the net closer.

I'll give that a go.

"You taught me well," Neville grins. It was trite, but true. He had a good instructor. The net was drawing closer to the shore.

Asato shakes his head. "Let's see how well I've taught you when the net comes to shore. Give it another, hard pull to cinch the net closed."

Neville nods, his motions pushing him back toward Asato slightly. He seems unaware of the fact. He tugs firmly at the net, hopefully closing it, and continues his slow pull. It's important to him, to get this right.

Asato doesn't really notice either, his own eyes trained on the incoming net.

And finally, the net reaches the shore. Neville doesn't realize he's holding his breath, anxious to see the results.

Asato's ears perk forward, eyes looking over the net...

Neville is pleasantly surprised to see fish, and not just a couple. There are five good-sized fish flapping against the bank. "Oh, that was brilliant!" He's beaming.

Asato claps Neville one the back, leaving his hand on the wizard's shoulder. "Wonderful! That's great! You're a natural at this."

"Thanks for teaching me how. It's so easy!" Neville grins.

"In the summer, I'll show you how to use a spear if you would like to learn." He stands back and goes to look over the fish.

"If we can't eat this, we can still prepare them for others if you want. Or I can dry them for later."

"That sounds like fun," Neville smiles more, a bit excited over his success. "What do you think we should do with them?" He really has no preference. The Mansion's kitchen keeps him full usually.

Moving over to the net, the Ribika crouches down to take the fish out of the net. "We'll let three go and keep and clean two." He carefully disentangles three of the large fish to toss back into the cold water, not seeming to care if his shoes and hands get wet in the process.

"The smallest three anyway."

Neville hugs Asato for teaching him to fish with a net!

"A good plan," Neville agrees, watching Asato work. He'd move to help, but the Ribika seems to have it covered. Fresh fish does sound rather tasty.

Anytime says Asato. Any excuse to be around Neville...

Asato, using the knife at his belt, makes quick work of the remaining fish and then straightens up. "Should we put these on the fire as well? Or do you want to eat them raw?" Nothing wrong with fresh, raw fish in the cat's mind.

*le sigh* And this is my big concern for these two working.

Neville's expression would probably amuse anyone else as he looks vaguely repulsed. "Umm, no, not raw," he finally manages. That was certainly a fresh reminder that he and Asato were very different.

Actually, this has more to do with the character's Japanese origins.

Asato chuckles and nods. "Alright. We can roast them then." He wouldn't eat old raw food, not when it was dangerous, but sliced raw fish was usually very good if one had the right things to go with it. Asato still wasn't as familiar with the local plant life to have found such things yet.

Sadly, Neville doesn't know that.

"Thank you," Neville answers sincerely, hoping he didn't offend the Ribika. "And we do have a fire, after all..."

I hope I'm not coming off as pushy with these two. *worries* Even if they never wind up 'together' I'm still glad that they're friends. Asato is just really, really lonely and tends to latch onto people he likes.

"Sounds nice," Neville answers, his smile more relaxed now that cooking is definitely on the agenda.

NOT.AT.ALL! I just sent you a PM, to Asato's account. Did you get it? I'm really glad they're friends too. Neville is lonely as well, so I'm glad they have each other's company and seem so comfortable with each other.

I'm not against these two at all. *le sigh*

Asato gathers up the netting in such a way that Neville can see what he's doing, then moves to the fire and the blankets so that they can begin cooking and eating their catch.

I did now! Sent a reply too. ^^ And they are very sweet together.

"I hope you enjoy my way of fishing half as much as I enjoyed that," Neville grins. He's feeling a bit of a thrill at his success, but he's not forgotten it wouldn't have been possible without Asato's steady hand showing him. "Thank you for being such a brilliant teacher!" He's taking a seat near the fire, ready to help however he can with the cooking.
