Asato's been a bit quiet as of late and has been roaming rather restlessly around. He can't quite help the longing for other cats, even the ones that Konoe told him were bad. Just something familiar would be nice. At this point, Asato would even welcome Rai with a butt of his head and flick of his tail.

He knew it wasn't to be though, so he'd been keeping to himself so that he wouldn't worry any of his friends or family. The feelings would pass and he would get back to normal.

Then there was the question of Miles... What to do about those feelings? Were they felings at all? He wasn't Ribika and there was Konoe but still... Who could he ask about such a thing?



Just a little scene of sorts. Asato's feeling a bit down and lonely again. Not in the main comm as it can happen at any time and is mostly for familiar faces and friends/family. Feel free to run into him anywhere: library, kitchen, main room, forest, outside The Merlin's hut, etc

Anita's been busy as hell, and she might come across Asato during one of her regular jogs.

She'll pause, seeing him thoughtful, and tilt her head.

"Hey."

Ended up going for the obvious. I'm going to invoke her tendency for repression to ignore her woes, though, which solves any possible timeline issues.

The cat perks up at seeing Anita and stands up from where he was crouched under a tree and replanting some flowers.

"Hello Anita." He smiles happily. Trust Asato to always be ready with a warm smile. "Are you running? May I join you?"

Woot! No worries on that. Asato wouldn't understand her troubles at all, but he's willing to distract her for a bit with his comparatively simple ones.

"Sure," she replies, smiling a little, though she's subdued, which could be put to the fact that she's straining in her jog a little.

"How've you been?"

Sounds like a deal! She could certainly use the distraction. ^^

Asato will jog easily beside her for a while. "Good. Merlin is letting me stay with him so I don't have to sleep outside anymore."

She chuckles. "Didn't know you hung out with the tea-man," she replies, half-derisively. "How much tea have you had since you moved in?"

A beat, and she adds, "Sounds good, though." And then. "-- you were constantly outside?"

Tea-man?" He just looks confused. "Not that much..."

Asato smiles then. "I came inside to eat if I wasn't having luck hunting. Or if the weather was too poor or too hot for me I'd go in to relax a bit." That seems perfectly reasonable to him.

There's a short moment of wtf on her face, quickly erased. "Damn it, Asato. You should have said something - I told you it wasn't safe out there."

She's protective, he's pack, and that's just not. Cool.

"I'm sorry." Asato's ears go back with a bit of shame and embarrassment. "I was close to the Mansion all the time," he points out. "And ... I didn't like being inside. It was too much for me."

The whole place had been too big, with far too many strange people.

Anita facepalms. "-- okay, I get that, but still. I mean -- oh, Christ, I'm sorry I didn't ask. Seriously."

"Are you mad?" He's worried about that more than his own safety really. "I'm safe with Merlin though, right?"

She smiles a little, reaches to pat his shoulder - or his arm, actually, considering the size difference. "I'm not angry at you - I'm pissed off at myself for not asking about your accommodations." She shrugs, figures that since Asato isn't an incest-born baby, he's safe. "I think you'll be fine - just don't believe everything the old geezer tells you."

He frowns. "Why not? He seems like a nice person." He's not an incest cat, but his own parentage was taboo and with good reason.

She's never actually talked to him - just so happens that Anita has an Orkney-bias.

"I will." He considers her. "Are you alright?" It would be rude of him to ask her personal questions without asking after her own well-being after all.

"I'm fine," she replies firmly, though if Asato has any way of telling, she's putting on a facade, very likely. Whether she's seen her boys or not, her life is in shambles.

"Just busy these days - there's a lot going on."

He can tell, but he's also smart enough in this particular situation to not press. Most social skills elude him, but the warning signs of fights are very well known.

"If you ever want to ... not be busy, you can come with me. I sometimes hunt and I've found a spot by the lake that has clay. I've been trying to make some pots." His tail flicks towards her in a friendly way. "It's very relaxing."

She perks up visibly. "You know," she replies, "I think I'd like that, actually."

It also gives her a chance to avoid angst-inducing boyfriends. That is a good thing.

He smiles happily. "Good! Any time you'd like." Asato doesn't know she's planning on avoiding her problems but he's happy to spend time with ... with family.

She gives him an intelligent, little smile. "Sure, Asato. What's up?"

"I'm still not clear on human ... nature. When one is fond of another, do they say anything about it? What sorts of ways to they show affection?" Because Miles has no tail to compliment or ears to wash, and he's starting to understand that humans don't headbutt each other.

She glances at him, takes a moment. "Well, yeah, I guess it's customary to say something. Not that it's easy," CASE IN POINT, "but I guess most people would like to know - and some are just so oblivious, if you don't wave it in their face and punch them with it, they'll just never guess."

Like Lucivar, WTF, she thinks. (Also like Anita with Henry, but she doesn't know that.

This is Asato though. He's got just about nil experience with romance of any kind, and no clue about humans and their mating rituals. Anita is the Love Doctor in comparison.

"Punch?" This is his shocked face. "Humans punch each other?" He doesn't know if that sounds right... "I don't think I can hit someone." Asato's ears lower. "Not even if I liked them that much."

Anita glances at him.... then she facepalms. "--- it was figurative, Asato. I don't mean really punch. I just mean, like, spell it out. Then again, I guess it depends on the person. But yeah, for some, you need to be blunt. For others, just -- I guess being extra-nice, or something?"

She shrugs. It's not like she's an expert - and she's well aware of that.
