It was much too hot. That was his first clue and what first had him seeking a place in the forest for himself. Asato never had claimed a room of his own (he hadn't even considered the idea that he was allowed) and so had no place to lock himself into when it started.

The heat was followed by pain and need and restless energy as it always was. There were no other Ribika here he would or could seek out and even if they're were, they wouldn't have been Konoe.

So, Asato would have to content himself with the makeshift shelter he'd made in the forest. A simple canopy over a collection of blankets he'd taken from the cupboards inside with a few objects of interest. He was trying to distract himself from the discomfort with a book, but eventually he could even focus on that and just lay down, curled up on himself, and tried not to cry.

even MORE ooc notes: He's in pain, and might be a bit more tense and snippy than is normal for him, but he's still Asato and still friendly.

Well Adrian will certainly find him, sooner or later. He does have quite a keen sense of smell, one of the perks of being a Moroi. When he discovers his makeshift shelter, he'll be firstly happy to see the book; this means Asato has been trying to read.

But then he'll notice that something is definitely wrong.

Asato can hear someone approach and for a moment he's tempted to climb up a tree to escape, but then his nose catches up to his ears and he relaxes a bit. Adrian was a good person and wouldn't be mean.

So, he'll open his eyes and smile slightly at the young non-cat before sitting up and running a hand through damp hair.

"Hi."

"Hey you" - in a very mild, somewhat worried tone. "What are you up to here, isolated?"

Adrian will keep a cautious distance for now, he doesn't want to frighten or annoy Asato.

Distance is good for now. Adrian is a friend, but Asato isn't sure what he will do.

"I'm keeping away until it's done."

"Until what is done?"

Adrian crouches on the ground, trying not to look very worried - his friend definitely seems troubled by something.

Ears flick forward and Asato considers Adrian. "The heat."

"Hm. It's not that hot outside, though. But perhaps you're sensitive to the temperature, more than I anyway. Do you think something cold to drink would help?"

Here we was worried about being teased, but ... Did Adrian not know about Heat? Asato shook his head.

"No, it's the heat inside. It will pass."

"--inside?" He doesn't really understand, nor does he know anything about cats to have some sort of reference. "You mean, like a fever?"

Asato tilts his head, reaching up to run a hand through his hair again. "You don't know...? It's like a fever, yes. But ... it hurts and it can be dangerous without a proper mate." Might as well be blunt.

Blink, blink. Without a--. Well he won't try to go into detail, it's a bit odd for him, but hey, Asato is his friend. He might not be a, er, proper mate, but perhaps he can at least be comforting?

"Look, just tell me if I can do anything for you, alright? Like, if you need water-- or someone to just sit and talk to you. Or anything else that's in my power, really."

The cat considers Adrian again. "You don't have the same," he asks. He's only curious.

"I'm okay out here," he goes on, then smiles. "I have my book. And my ... my new family has been here too." Asato's voice and face show a bit of wonder at the idea of family.

"No. I don't. We -- I mean, the people I know -- don't." He sketches a smile in reply to Asato's. "Your family? This is new! How come do you have a family?"

He's obviously very happy with this and it shows,despite the light sheen of sweat and the way his breath is a bit faster than normal.

"Anita told me I could be family. She said... I was like pard."

"--Anita?"

Adrian knows Anita as a -- human. Well. Sort of. In her human form, anyway.

"I don't see the connection, but I'm glad nevertheless. Don't forget, mate, I'm here for you as well; if you need anything..."

"Yes." Asato looks down, feeling a bit shy. "I've got so many friends here, it's ... It can be overwhelming sometimes. But I'm very glad you are my friend."

"It makes me happy too, Asato."

Adrian holds out a hesitating hand to pat Asato's head, if it's possible.

Asato pushes up against his hand with a smile and a low, rumbling purr. "Good."

Adrian laughs and caresses him more. "You're a very good guy, Asato. I like you a lot. I'm a bit worried right now, but I'm sure you'll tell me if you need anything, right?"

Asato smiles and nods. "I'll be alright," he says. "I've never had a real mate before so I'm used to it. Thank you though!"

"I'll give you some privacy," Adrian states, slowly standing up but still hugging Asato with his gaze. "Just -- let me know in case you need anything, alright? Please. Friends are there to worry for their friends, among other things."
