Asato was glad that the day had dawned clear and not too cold and there didn't seem to be a storm coming. All in all, a good day to spend outside.

The Ribika gathered up his tools for the day, taking care not to tangle the netting, and stowed it all in a shoulder bag before going to meet with Neville. The greenhouse wasn't a far walk and, remembering his manners, he knocked before opening the door.

So, fishing trip for Neville and Asato.

That earns a surprised stare and his fur fluffing up a bit. "Ah, I don't know? I usually sit on a blanket here..."

Or I'm just a space-case.

Neville looks concerned with the fur fluffs. "I didn't -- did I upset you?"

LOL, noooooo, I don't think that's the case at all. Shar just has a dirty mind, yo.

Asato shakes his head. "Your magic is ... new. Like Merlin's but different." He was just surprised, not upset.

I wonder what will happen come spring then when Asato goes missing ^^

"The Merlin is revered in my world as the greatest wizard to ever live. His magic is ancient," Neville nods, clearly relieved he hadn't upset Asato. "You live with him, don't you?"

Refresh my memory, why is Asato going missing? Neville is going to be greatly worried and upset. :(

Asato nods. "I do. He was kind to offer me a room in his home and I try to help him as best as I can in return." He smiles a bit. "But he says we're good friends as well.

"And I like the smell of magic," Asato adds.

He'll be missing for only about a week while he goes into heat. Merlin will know where he is.

"Then I'm certain he means it," Neville smiles, and it broadens at the last. "I didn't realize you could smell it. It's probably a good thing you like it, living with Merlin," he chuckles.

Neville: *BLUSHES*

Hopefully Merlin will reassure Neville his friend is well. ^^

"It smells different than the magic that Konoe has, but it's there. A ... sort of tingle in my nose." He smiles, a bit embarrassed by that. "A good feeling though. There's other magic, deep in the forest and in the mansion that smells of death. I don't like that."

Asato: *sad*

Hopefully. Running off and looking for him could be awkward for everyone involved, more so since Asato really is developing a crush on Neville.

Neville giggles softly. "A nose tingle. I'll have to remember that," he smiles warmly, but then the rest sinks in. "That reminds me of Death Eaters - evil wizards in my world. Is it the entire Mansion or just a few residents here?" He's clearly concerned with this bit of information.

Aww, Asato, why so sad? Neville blushes a lot. <3

We'll have to discuss if you want to play that awkward or not? Neville is really intrigued by Asato, but I'm not sure it is in 'crush' territory yet, only that it could go that way. He does consider him a very dear friend, which means a lot to Neville.

"A few people here" Asato shakes his head. "I don't know them, but I've told Merlin about it. It's not my place to judge anybody though."

"I'm glad Merlin knows," Neville nods. He recalls Merlin warning him that not everyone here was good, but it didn't hurt to be reminded.

"Of course. I don't keep anything from him. We're like family." That's what he thinks anyway.

"I didn't think you kept secrets from him," Neville assures his friend. Without saying anything else, he transfigures a leaf into a picnic blanket. "In case you prefer it to the chairs," he murmurs with a slight blush.

Asato perks up at the magic again. "That's amazing." And it probably will always be amazing to the Ribika.

"It really isn't, not where I'm from. Just basic magic," Neville shrugs, blushing slightly.

"To me it is," Asato points out. "Magic is so very rare and the kind here is so different than what I know, nothing you do could be basic."

Neville blushes more. "You'll probably get used to it once we hang out enough." It was definitely time to change the subject. "Right then, show me how to use your net?"

Asato smiles and moved to gather up the net properly again. "Alright. It's very easy," he says. "Much easier than your rod and ...reel." He steps up to Neville and holds the carved wooden stick with the line wrapped around it out.

"This is the part you hold onto the whole time."

Neville reaches for the wooden portion of the net, his hand wrapping around just about Asato's, touching even, if typist allows. "Like this?"

Asato (nor his typist) mind the touch and it actually makes it easier to carefully adjust Neville's fingers. "Don't hold it too tightly," he warns, "or you won't be able to get the net out very far over the water."

Neville relaxes and allows Asato to move his fingers and hand however is best. "Right, then. The further the better?" he asks, turning to look at Asato. The Ribika is very close, so Neville looks back at the water.

Apparently I'm not getting notifs again.

Asato really does have no concept of 'personal space' as it applies to humans so, yes, he is rather close. "Right. There are fish that like to stay far out in the deeper waters and you want to trap them before they know you're there." He smiles.

"It's like using a spear, but without getting too wet. Now you hold this side of the net like this..." The wizard (and typist) willing, Asato will take Neville's other hand and show him how to hold the other end of the net.

I don't think I'll ever be able to rely on email notifs again. :|

Neville and his typist don't mind a bit, as Neville tries to get the hang of using a net. He goes through the motions a few times, much like a batter warming up his swing, or a wizard practicing his swish and flick.

Makes me sad! I wonder if I can try another email client...

Asato smiles at how quickly Neville picks up on it. "Just like that," he says, letting go and stepping back. "Now, you take the netting up and throw it out over the lake." He mimes doing just that beside Neville.

Sad too. I've used the same email acct for LJ for years. :(

Neville hadn't minded Asato in his space at all. In fact, he kind of misses the warmth when the Ribika moves away, but he shakes that thought away. He has no explanation for the lurch of loneliness he'd just felt.

Neville continues to follow Asato's instructions, doing just as he'd been shown, and tossing the net out over the water. His upper body strength sends it far, but he keeps a firm grasp on the wood.

Asato just didn't want to be smacked by arms or net, just in case. When Neville throws the net though, he claps his hands and smiles happily.

"That was great! Now give it some time to settle, then give one sharp tug to the line you still have."
