Asato was glad that the day had dawned clear and not too cold and there didn't seem to be a storm coming. All in all, a good day to spend outside.

The Ribika gathered up his tools for the day, taking care not to tangle the netting, and stowed it all in a shoulder bag before going to meet with Neville. The greenhouse wasn't a far walk and, remembering his manners, he knocked before opening the door.

So, fishing trip for Neville and Asato.

"Blunt? I prefer someone that's straightforward," Neville points out. "But I don't think you were overly blunt just then. i'm not sure what 'closest to familiar' means, but like I said, I think it's probably a compliment." He returns the smile.

Asato thinks for a moment, tugging on his line again.

"I mean that you're the closest a human has been here to what I know," he begins slowly. "You remind me of Konoe and Kagari. Cats that were nice to me."

"Then I suppose I'm honored," Neville answers quietly, watching his line. Fortunately the sun was reflecting off of it, making it visible.

"I feel comfortable around you." Asato adds quietly, not sure if that really is a compliment to Neville or if he's making things awkward now. He's never been good at social cues.

Neville looks back over at Asato and gives him a warm smile. "I'm glad. I'm comfortable with you also. It's been very easy, to become your friend."

"Did you have many friends, back where you're from?" He's guessing that Neville was popular.

Neville wasn't exactly popular,and he's not thinking in those terms anyway when he answers. "I was very fortunate. When I got to Hogwarts, I shared a dorm with four other boys, and they all were good mates," he smiles fondly in memory. "Have you met Harry Potter? He was one of them -- he's here actually. And Luna, Ginny, Hermione." He's grinning. "I grew up mostly alone, so it was nice to make friends at school."

Asato shakes his head. "I don't think I've met any of them," he says. "But I'm glad that you have friends here too. What was school like?"

"Oh! Only Harry is here. You should meet him -- he's brilliant," Neville smiles fondly. "But we don't hang out much. He's married, and Malfoy -- we were not friends in school." He's not smiling now.

"Have I told you that students were divided into four Houses at Hogwarts? On your first night, you're sorted into one of them. Harry and I were in Gryffindor."

I'm so excited about Ianto! I changed a few of Neville's icons (the ones that were overtly Ianto-ish; I like the new ones better for Neville anyway, esp this default I made. XD

Asato shakes his head. "I don't think I've heard much about your school. I wasn't allowed to learn with the others when I was young... Are all schools like yours?"

The houses thing is well outside of anything this cat can find a frame of reference for.

I'm excited too. ^^ Not when it comes to rewatching Children of Earth though.... *whine* I like the new icons!

"Hermione said non-wizarding schools weren't at all the same," Neville shares. "Except boarding school, but my parents went to Hogwarts, and their parents did -- it's all I know, really."

He looks over at Asato. "I don't think that's fair, you were left out of school. Who made that decision?"

Aww, thank you! *hugs* I don't envy you watching CoE. I get sad just recalling it. I adored Ianto. :( I'd truly hug you right now if I could (and you'd allow it! lol) Using *hug* icon for you! <3

Boarding school? "The other kittens learned all together things like reading and writing, then they'd learn a trade, but they all stayed with their parents until it was time to apprentice. I wasn't allowed inside the village once I was old enough to feed myself and climb trees on my own." He takes a hand off his line and touches one of his ears.

"Because I was cursed and they didn't want me around their own children."

And yeah, even thinking about it gets me all tied up inside, but I really do love Ianto and I want to see what would happen with him here. And if there was ever a Jack *shifty look*

"Asato, you're one of the nicest blokes I've met," Neville says, and he walks over to put a hand on his friend's shoulder, giving it a squeeze - typist willing of course. "I can't believe your society allowed you to be treated that way." Neville would have fought to defend him. "And I still don't understand why they considered you cursed." He's frowning deeply.

Oh good, because I'm a hugger! *more hugz* I'd love to see Ianto find a little happiness. (I guess I'm a sucker for happy endings even if they're not realistic.) Not that I'm saying I expect you to plot that way, I'm just babbling. Some things can't be plotted. Though I wonder if he'd ever actually have a happy ending with Jack... Even so,I bet you get a Jack soon! ^^

Asato's ears perk when Neville puts his hand on his shoulder and he smiles. "Many people here think it's strange or unfair. I do to, now. Konoe came and took me away from that," he says with a smile.

"But at the time and for my tribe, it was just how things were done. I believed that it was right and fair to be punished for something my parents did."

Me too! Ianto needs some happy in his life. Or ..un-life? *CRIES FOREVER* I don't know if he'd have a happy ending with Jack, but I would have loved to see them try. The romantic thing going on between Jack and Gwen always bothered me and I'm irked that it's going to be brought up in the fourth series. I think I'll be skipping that one...

"It's just like the wizards that think pureblood wizards are the only ones that matter - it's just not true. Our blood doesn't make us who we are, and neither does something our parents have done, or not done," Neville says with feeling. "I'm glad you realize it was wrong of them to treat you that way. It's who we are inside that matters."

I'll be stalking Ianto threads, just so you know. <3 <3 I've always liked Gwen, but I loved Ianto. And as much as I love Jack, I'm not sure he's a good match for anyone, but like you, I'd like to see them try. ^^

Asato shook his head. "I'm still cursed, but ... I know that it's not my fault and it's not my mother or father's fault. They loved each other and I know that if they'd lived they might have loved me too."

Ianto is afraid of the stalking.
I like Gwen and I liked her character, but the whole romantic subplot thing that the writers kept bringing up. To me, it felt much too forced. It's not even the usual fanwank of 'He should be with Ianto!' as fanwank of 'I just don't see it!'.
I'd love to see a Gwen or a Tosh in game too. Tosh... *sad forever as well*

"I don't like hearing you call yourself cursed," Neville admits. "No one controls the circumstances of their own birth. But I have no doubt your parents would have loved you." He blushes slightly, the conversation seeming very personal of a sudden.

I actually liked Gwen/Owen because it wasn't forced, because yes, I can see Gwen/Jack as forced too. But I actually like her best with her husband.

I was so sad when Tosh passed. Even Owen. :( But Ianto? *sobs*

Asato smiles warmly at Neville, reaching out to clasp his shoulder in a friendly way if he can. "Thank you Neville."

*nodnod* I liked Gwen/Owen because it was much more believable, even her reasons for doing that, but yes, I agree. Gwen and her husband were the best. I liked Rhys.

Neville appreciates the friendly gesture, and he relaxes, giving Asato a quick grin. "You're welcome, but no thanks are necessary."

"It makes me feel better," Asato points out. "And that deserves some thanks." He pulls sharply on his line and then starts to drag the net back in. He should have something caught in it by now he thinks.

"I'm still new to having friends, so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, but I think we're good friends, right?"

I feel like he totally gets the short end of the stick in so many ways. Not fair at all.

Neville smiles brightly at that. "Of course! I consider you a very good friend," he assures Asato. "One of my best mates here, actually." Asato and Zhane are probably his best friends at the Mansion. He feels close to others as well, but it's more formal somehow. He can relax with Asato, and just hang out.

I'd like to see Gwen drop the whole Jack thing now that they're married. :( Rhys deserves better.

Asato's ears flick as he thinks. "Mates means friends, right? To you?" He's getting better at this.

Seriously. But apparently (at least according to what I've read), the fourth series will just be more of her being in love with Jack still and missing the excitement and then Jack will come back to Earth because he loves her and needs to be with her and some such nonsense.

Neville chuckles and nods. "Yes. I suppose it's British slang. Friends are mates. And I count you one," he grins. He'd say more, but his line is being pulled, and his attention gets drawn to reeling in his catch. "Wonder what we caught!"

That's just -- I think I threw up in my life a little. I might have to miss the new season. I'd prefer to think of Jack off in space with Alonzo than that scenario...

*sobsigh* I miss Ianto. I'm so glad I'll get to see him again, in the game that is. <3 <3

Asato finishes pulling his net in, pleased to see two fish in it as Neville exclaims about his own catch. Making sure his net won't get swept away, he follows Neville's line and movements with rapt attention.

I hope I live up to his awesome character. I do adore Ianto and I'm glad that he'll be well-received in the game.

Neville glances quickly at the net, but can't look very closely until he finishes his own task. He finally manages to land the fish, but it's not nearly as big as he would have liked. It's certainly not going to impress Asato. "Hmm."
